Mikie Huffman

Mikie Huffman is a singer, songwriter, voice instructor, and, piano teacher. Mikie had been singing in choirs, and, as a soloist all of his life before deciding to attend Central Piedmont Community College in order to obtain the opportunity of studying classical vocal repertoire with World-Renowned Soprano; Rebecca Cook-Carter.

Mikie played first clarinet and first alto saxophone at Brawley Middle School in Mooresville, North Carolina, under the direction of Beaver Robinette for four years. He played first alto saxophone in the Concert and Symphonic Bands, at South Iredell High School under the direction of Bill Witcher. He also played sax in the High School's marching Band.

He played alto saxophone in South Iredell High School's Jazz Band for two years along with SONY Nashville Recording Artist, Russ Caldwell of Bush Hawg. He has performed at various venues, including the stage of UNCG's Aycock Auditorium, and, Walt Disney World's MGM Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

Mikie began to focus on singing professionally after high school. He recorded several demos at studios in the Charlotte area, auditioned for talent competitions, and, performed locally as often as possible. He moved to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee in 2007 in an effort to break into the Music and Entertainment Industry. He briefly took guitar lessons from Three-Time World Banjo Champion; Gary "Biscuit" Davis. Mikie spent most of his time in the Smoky Mountains performing as a recording artist and songwriter while working in the hospitality industry.

In 2009, Michael founded Jumpstart Music Group, and established an Independent Record Label (JMG Records) for which he wrote, performed, recorded, and produced Country, Americana, R & B, and, Country-Christian music for himself, and, other local talents.

Mikie's music has been featured internationally on ITunes, Amazon, and other international digital distributors. He has published albums for Chattanooga, Tennessee’s Multi-Award Winning Keith Sasser. He has also produced a Country-Gospel EP for Terry Durham, and, an EP for Josiah Atchley of Knoxville, Tennessee, which has received a great deal of airplay from vatious stations in the Knoxville area.

While working in the Great Smoky Mountains, Michael met and had the opportunity to work, perform, and, study with Grammy Award Winning Songwriter; Taylor Brooks. She convinced him to consider earning an Associate's Degree in Performing Arts and Music Education at Central Piedmont Community College.

Michael has performed in numerous Opera Productions at CPCC, including Mozart's The Magic Flute, Verdi's La Traviata, Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites, and, Miserables.

In 2013, Mikie will receive his Associate in Fine Arts Degree at Central Piedmont Community College, where he studies Vocal Performance with Rebecca-Cook Carter. He also studies Piano with Dr. Roxanne Holt-Watson. He plans to finish his undergraduate as a Music Education Major.
