Sargent Tucker’s (aka Johnnie) full-length solo CD Album appropriately titled “Simply Sargent Tucker” is scheduled for release in 2013. Overseeing this mission is Grammy Nominated Producer Levi Seacer, former “Prince” Music Director and Guitarist. Danny Thomas Co-founder of “Con-Funk Shun” recently joined forces with Sargent for this project playing keyboards with Juan Escovedo of the famous (Escovedo Family) on percussions. Select tracks include Bay Area Legendary Guitarist Carl Lockett. Persistence is paying off for Sargent Tucker as his silky vocals and celebrated musicians create a smooth blend of sophisticated grooves and classy Pop flavored R&B.

Simply Sargent Tucker includes a re-written anecdote of Tucker’s composition titled “Stop Telling Me”. The original version was recorded at Music City Records in Oakland, CA with “Two Things In One” a group, Tucker co-founded during High School. Ace/BGP Record Labels based in the United Kingdom recently re-released this material, including the original version of “Stop Telling Me” which was featured on the 2011 Grammy Nominated “Music City Story” Compilation CD/Album liner notes along with great artists such as Lou Rawls. From that era, several of Tucker’s compositions, originally recorded at Music City Records and performed with “Two Things In One” have been reissued. Tucker’s other compositions are “CONFUSION” 2-LP “SUPER FUNK’S MISSION IMPOSSIBLE”, and “STOP TELLING ME” Sampler- “STREET SOUNDS FROM THE BAY AREA”- MUSIC CITY FUNK & SOUL GROOVES. Subsequently, Ace partnered with the United States Label Los Angeles based Omnivore Recordings to release a full length CD entitled “The Two Things in One”, “TOGETHERFOREVER “Music City Sessions. To support their newly released CD/Album, Sargent Tucker reunited with the original members of “Two Things in One” in performances at Yoshi’s Oakland and Dimitri’s Lounge in Suisun, CA.

Sargent Tucker is a multi-talented lead singer, musician, song-writer, and producer. His singing style is described as soulfully smooth and original, reminiscent of great traditional R&B Soul singers. Recently, he was honored to be selected by his peers as one of Solano County’s All-Stars. The Sargent Tucker band is fully self-contained, diverse, and appeals to an adult audience that enjoys a wide-range of musical taste. They creatively arrange and blend originals with popular music from many genres such as R&B, Classic Motown, Jazz, Blues, and Funk. This group's current shows are on target with up-beat grooves with musical versatility.

Tucker has shared the stage with many great contemporary major acts, such as Bill Cosby, The Spinners, War, The Ohio Players, Funkadelic, The Whispers, Miracles, and Earth Wind & fire, to name a few. Consistent with his vision to deliver music with a purpose, the Sargent Tucker band was the featured performer at the 2011 Hollywood Global Happiness Day. The Happiness Honorees included Will Smith, Ellen Degeneres, Goldie Hawn, and Robbie Williams. This event was sponsored by the International Happiness Foundation, Drai’s W Hotel Hollywood, and Dr. Shelly Sykes, a USA Multiple Best Selling Award Winning Author and Philanthropist. In October 2010, Levi Seacer produced Sargent Tucker’s single titled “I AM HAPPY”, which is the theme song for the Non-profit Organization “I Am Happy Project”. The Sargent Tucker band along with producer Seacer joining them on stage performed “I Am Happy” live at the first Global Happiness Summit which was held in Alameda, CA aboard the USS-Hornet, an American Treasure (involved in the Apollo 11 space missions).

Originally from New Orleans, Tucker began playing guitar at age five. While attending Jr. High in the San Francisco Bay Area he started playing bass and singing. Later, as a member of his High School Jazz Band “Two Things in One” formed. This group achieved two number one singles, “Silly Song” and “Together Forever”. The group moved to Los Angeles with a different line-up and changed its name to SKYE. As Skye’s lead vocalists, Sargent attracted the attention of legendary Producer Kevin Beamish, producer of REO Speed Wagon/Jefferson Starship. Kevin Beamish later became the producer of SKYE. Subsequently, Tucker signed with Macola Records Company; Los Angeles, CA as an Artist/Writer/Producer and released “Come See Me” which charted internationally. This song was later re-released on the now classic compilation album titled “Sunset Strip”.
