Esther de Bijl (aka E-Starr) is the female lead vocalist of the legendary 80’s band Ottawan. Ottawan’s breakthrough was in 1980 with the release of their No. 1 hit single “D.I.S.C.O.”. One year later, their single “Hands Up” became their second No. 1 hit and stayed there for 12 weeks. A few other songs followed from Ottawan’s one and only album. These songs were and still are magnetic songs that capture the era of disco with the inclusion of that contagious disco rhythm that made people dance the night away.
In Spring of 2013 E-Starr released her first self written single 'Feel my Lovin".
In January 2013 E-Starr has released her debut solo EP “Hands Up”.
A re-mix of the original Hands Up by Ottawan, it captures a completely different tone, mood, feel and has re-energized current music trends by releasing a variation of the original. This is an acoustic version with a deeper undertone from the original hot disco beat. It also shows the versatility in the artist by looking at a theme and developing a variation of it . This EP will include dance/house vocal tracks along with an acoustic version of 'Hands Up', a videoclip was also released.
Prior releases include D.I.S.C.O. EP (2010) and “Fingertips”, single (2010)
E-Starr is still extremely popular in the CIS countries, Germany, Belgium, Scandinavian countries and many more as both an Ottawan member and as solo artist E-Starr. She continues to tour and has opened for world renown artists such as Beyonce and Rihanna at Donbass Arena in Donetsk Ukraine. “Hands Up” is licensed in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
E-Starr continues to bring the showmanship and stage presence today as she did with Ottawan. She delivers quite a show and audiences everywhere love it.
